Il Gorgazzo
The town of Polcenigo has called to me since my first visit. Remains of prehistoric stilt houses, from the 4th millennium BCE, were found near the springs for the Gorgazzo and Livenza rivers. These springs produce a lot of water coming out of the Alps to the north.
The Gorgazzo goes through the heart of Polcenigo running swiftly to the tie into the Livenza and down to the Adriatic Sea.
I am still curious what call to me – the springs of crystal clear water, the midlevel town, the history of the place… I can’t put my finger on why but I keep returning to explore an itch I can’t seem to reach and scratch…
